Carriage House

Carriage houses were originally used to store horse-drawn carriages and house their coachmen near homes, while today New York carriage houses are more commonly being converted into apartments, restaurants and other businesses – often boasting unique architectural details that add character. Furthermore, investing in such real estate provides you with a chance at owning historical real estate assets.

A typical carriage house typically stands one and a half stories, featuring both front- and side-facing double doors to accommodate carriage entry, along with personal entry via a side-facing single door. As they were originally intended to house stables, these buildings typically boast high ceilings; many are wider than townhouses; they may even stand alone! A carriage house may be attached to another single-family dwelling or stand on its own.

Carriage House, one of the West Village’s historic carriage houses, serves modern American cuisine influenced by chef Jordan Andino’s Southeast Asian roots and experience as a top chef at top-tier restaurants such as Nobu. Dishes at Carriage House include wagyu skirt steak, marinated peri peri chicken and tagliatelle with truffle. In addition to these popular offerings, Carriage House also stands out with its cocktails and innovative bread service; guests receive rosemary-sage-scented breadsticks along with an interactive seasonal “butter candle” that melts right at each tabletop!

As its name implies, Carriage House boasts an inviting ambiance ideal for an intimate dinner or casual date. Their friendly and helpful staff provides outstanding service while their delectable dishes offer the ideal setting to mark a special occasion or impress friends and family alike.

New York carriage houses can be found throughout various neighborhoods in Brooklyn and Manhattan, often connected to single-family homes in tree-lined streets in desirable communities. You can use sites such as StreetEasy to search for carriage houses in NYC, but remember these homes are rare – most stay within their original families for long stretches, reducing availability considerably.

Barbuto

Barbuto made an exciting comeback last February following its brief closure during the pandemic, opening in a new West Village location and offering up its signature roast chicken with salsa verde – delighting fans of its legendary dining experience! Chef Jonathan Waxman had first opened Barbuto back in 2004 – when none of these iconic institutions existed yet (such as High Line Park, Standard Hotel and Whitney Museum!). Since then he’s brought his deep-flavored rustic Italian cuisine with California twang into every new space where Barbuto has opened.

It is a large and open space, featuring both indoor and outdoor seating with an inviting bar running along one wall. On a nice day, sit outside for an unforgettable dining experience!

Not as intimate, but the food remains similar. Pizza with smoked salmon and avocado topping is almost an edible work of art; while chestnut fettuccine or pappardelle with wild boar ragu can steal the show. In addition, this restaurant excels at balancing flavors: its sweet-and-spicy roasted root vegetables pair beautifully with its earthy ragu sauce.

Dessert options at Barbuto include chocolate tarantella and banana fritters, both outstanding; but perhaps their most exciting dessert option is their whipped cream cheese, served alongside strawberry jam in a small jar and an almond brittle cookie – not exactly commonplace but exactly what Barbuto should offer its guests.

If you’re searching for a restaurant that celebrates all that makes New York special and its inhabitants unique, look no further. You won’t regret dining here!
