Festivals in London...

London is an all time cheering city and so are its incredible festivals reflecting the great cultural heritage of the country. Festivals in London are vibrant and enjoyable always celebrated in an enthusiastic style.

Some of the important festivals celebrated in London can be summarized as follows.

Regent Streets Festival

The end of summer is celebrated on seventh September from midday up to eight pm. Naturally the road is closed for traffic to celebrate this festival in every possible manner of celebration like dance, music and partying. Festival footstalls cater special food to the celebrators. Above all the street entertainers and many events arranged specially for the festival provide pure entertainment to the crowds. This historic shopping street from Pall Mall to Regent's Park was originally created for Prince Regent in 1818 by architect John Nash. Every year the street festival is provided with a new colorful theme like taste of Britain of Indian Bazaar which creates curiosity among the visitors to join the celebrations.

City of London Festival

This is an arts festival celebrated annually for about two to three weeks in June and July. This festival concentrating on classical music also offers the taste of jazz, opera, world music and film screenings. This festival is mostly celebrated at some of the renowned churches of London. Some of the free events are also held at venues like city squares, streets and gardens in order to publicize the celebrations. The festival also includes educational programs for primary and secondary schools offering enriched cultural events. These educational projects try to explore cultural links between the city and its trading partners. As per the recent trends the festival also includes vibrant events of music, drama and poetry. Exhibitions of film screenings, architecture, and visual arts are also becoming more common.
