Estonia is a tiny nation in the Baltic region of Northern Europe, bordered with Gulf of Finland to the North and Baltic Sea to the west. This gem in the Baltic region gifted with huge coastal line and picturesque beaches is becoming popular for its serene tourist attractions. Even if the size of the country is smaller it leaves its mark in the region with quaint villages, dense forests and the wide spread marshlands. One interesting fact about Estonia is that it was invaded and ruled by many countries like Germany, Denmark, Sweden, Poland and Russia. Due to its historic background there are many historic monuments and castles reminding the great past of this region. Latvian culture is a mixed pot reflecting the effects of various regimes, which dominated this country for quite a long period. When Latvia became the member of European Union its internal borders with the member states were abolished and obviously there is no custom clearance required at these borders. Estonia became independent in the year 1989 and a new Democratic Republic of Estonia came into existence including some of the Baltic islands. Tallinn the beautiful city was declared as the capital of Estonia. Port of Tallinn connects east and west with crossings to Swedish and Finnish destinations. This port handles both passenger traffic as well as cargo ships.
